About LightStick Hoover Review
LightStick Hoover Review exists because vacuum shopping is harder than it should be. Spec sheets exaggerate, sponsored "best of" lists recycle press releases, and the difference between a machine you'll love and one you'll resent rarely shows up in either. We buy stick vacuums, live with them, and write down what actually happens.
How We Test
Every vacuum on this site goes through the same 30-day protocol in a real home with hardwood, tile, two grades of carpet, and one extravagantly shedding dog:
- Weight and balance — measured ready-to-clean with wand and head attached, then stress-tested on a full staircase clean.
- Pickup tests — controlled spills of flour, oats, and collected pet hair on each floor type, scored per pass.
- Battery runtime — timed in every power mode with the motorized head running, not the marketing configuration.
- Living-with-it month — thirty days of normal cleaning to surface the things spec sheets hide: bin mess, hair-wrap, filter routine, where it can and can't reach.
Ratings are relative to price class — a 4.3 budget machine isn't claiming to outperform a 4.6 flagship; it's excellent for what it costs. You can see how the current field stacks up in our reviews section and the top picks table.
How This Site Makes Money
When you click a "Check Price" button and buy something on Amazon, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. That's the entire business model. Commissions don't influence ratings — the same affiliate link exists whether we score a vacuum 4.8 or 2.0, so there's no incentive to inflate anything. The full details are in our affiliate disclosure.
Who's Behind It
The site is written and maintained by Peter Mac, a home-tech tinkerer who started measuring vacuum runtimes out of spite after one too many "up to 60 minutes" claims, and edited with help from a small circle of long-suffering family testers who no longer ask why there's flour on the landing.
